As a result, motherboard compatibility issues could be more serious than other devices. Therefore, I am sorry to still say that the only solution is to install a compatible driver for the motherboard.
As the device is designed and produced by the manufacturer, it is the manufacturer's responsibility to provide a upgrade version of device driver to ensure it works with the Operating System. If the manufacturer does not or is not willing to provide such a driver, I am afraid that the problem cannot be resolved from the Operating System side. In conclusion, I would still like to recommend you to push the manufacturer to develop an upgrade version of device driver for this motherboard, or choose other model of motherboard which is compatible with Windows Vista.
I understand your feeling on encountering such a problem. However, I really hope that the manufacturer can provide a driver as soon as possible. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
Lionel Chen. Though I appreciate your response, I would continue to challenge Microsoft to confirm the fault is related to a third party device before making such a gross assumption.
Until the root cause is confirmed to be the driver the problem or issue the customer is facing should continue to be investigated. That's basic root-cause analysis that anyone would undertake in attempting to resolve a problem.
Resorting to stating my motherboard is not compatible with Windows Vista; simply because it hasn't been tested with Vista, is the root cause of the issue I'm encountering is equivalent to telling someone to reboot their machine because of a Blue Screen error.
In both cases, nothing has been done to understand the true origin of the issue amongst several possibilities. After purchasing a new motherboard stating Windows Vista compatibility, a compatible processor, and appropriate memory, what if I continue to experience the same issue as before?
That's a plausible scenario given Microsoft doesn't know with any reasonable degree of confidence my issue is indeed caused by the motherboard. Will Microsoft reimburse me for these components? That's a rhetorical question. No need to answer. If the issue persists, what would be the next line or depth of troubleshooting? Additional questions which come to mind are: Why does the issue not occur in Safe Mode? Why does the issue not occur when I am not logged into Windows?
If it were hardware i. These are reasonable questions which I would hope anyone with the technical support community to ask in regards to a problem such as mine. Dismissing them shows the lack of technical expertise and unpreparedness of the professionals within Microsoft's own support organization to deal with the complexities encountered in today's software and hardware systems; including, its own product in Windows Vista.
What would questions would you then ask? Where would the companies vast degree of knowledge stored in its Visual KB or Clarify support systems take it? How would the company escalate my problem to the next level of support to a professional with the time, energy, expertise, and access to resources, and committment to address my issue without just telling me to reboot?
I remain very dissatisfied with the lack of effort and support employed in an attempt to resolve the issue I encountered. It's quite unfortunate for a company such as Microsoft. It's lost focus on its customer's and its committment to customer's after the purchase.
Thanks for your feedback! I hope this may help you:. The device driver is critical and necessary for the hardware devices to function with the operating system and the related applications.
Such an issue also occurs with other operating systems, including the previous versions of Windows operating systems and third party operating systems. If there is no well-designed devices driver for that specific operating system and hardware devices, the operating system cannot communicate with the device and could lead to further problems. In other words, no matter what operating system you will install on a given computer, we always need to ensure that the drivers for that operating system are available.
