Microsoft mouse freezing

Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Martin Bar's post on September 9, Hi, thanks for your attention, I'm using an USB wired mouse, I tried switching the USB to other ports, but got no results, and no, I don't get any error messages, not even the notification sound you get when a device disconnects, the computer keeps running like nothing happened, the cursor just freezes for seconds then reappears where it was supposed to be.

Follow the steps below: Open Device Manager. Double-click Mice and other pointing devices. Right-click the mouse driver, then click Properties. Go to Driver tab. Click Uninstall. Click OK. Reboot your computer. Hi Jon, I would like to inform you that this issue can be caused by several reasons, like outdated or incompatible drivers, intermittent connection or conflicting programs.

I request you to answer a few questions, so that we can diagnose this issue correctly: 1. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. This site in other languages x. I am running exactly the same hardware and OS version with no problems. The first thing I would check is the power settings, CPU is likely to be throttled when the power supply is not connected. I would also install the Microsoft Surface Diagnostic toolkit then run the updates and hardware diagnostics from there.

Out of curiosity, is this happening with the AC adapter plugged in? If so, are you using a 3rd-party AC adapter? As a matter of fact I am running it on battery not the AC adapter.

The user didn't think I would need the charger to fix it I'll have to ask them if the noticed it happening while plugged in. I do know that the charger is the original one that came with it. I just went to Device Manager and right clicked on it and clicked Update Driver.

It said the best one was already installed. Then I looked at some of the CPU throttling settings. When I first when into power options the ususal CPU threshold settings were missing. Apparently Microsoft doesn't make them visible by default. I'm not sure if it was the update, letting it charge all the way, or the CPU settings but it's working ok for now. Once done, restart the system. It's working fine since then. After way too much back and forth with Dell support, they sent someone out to replace the touchpad.

I've had no problems since. Glad that it's fixed, but the huge pain it took to finally get Dell to replace it has hugely tarnished my opinion of Dell.
