If the remote computer is a Windows 7 client machine, the ability to support Aero Glass remoting is enabled by default. If the client does have multiple monitors, I would make certain all of them but the main one are off even before starting mstsc, but that may be voodoo troubleshooting on my part. Inside the RDP session, go to desktop personalization to personalize the R2 desktop for the user. If the Windows 7 Aero theme is not selected for the user on-server, select it.
Then reconnect following steps I'm hoping we'll see the problem disappear either on connection or after you complete step 7.
